Description
The contractor will be responsible for maintaining all designated areas to a high standard to ensure they are safe, clean, and esthetically pleasing. Twyford Parish Council is committed to the environment. The Council will expect the Contractor to work in a collaborative partnership and ensure environmentally friendly practices are adopted in the application of their contract. Grounds Maintenance Scope of Work The contractor shall provide grounds maintenance services at the following locations: King George V Recreation Ground (KGVR), RG10 9JA London Road allotments, RG10 9AX Hurst Road allotments, RG10 9NT Twyford Parish Burial Ground, RG10 9NT Stanlake Meadow, RG10 0BL Bell Corner, RG10 9NY Polehampton Corner, RG10 9AE Jubilee Corner, RG10 9JQ Services Required The following services are required as part of the grounds maintenance contract: 1. Grass cutting 19 cuts which equates to 1 cut in March and then fortnightly through to the end of November. 1.2 KGVR playground grass - Cut and drop. Strim boundary and around equipment etc 1.3 Grass Cutting at Parish Burial Ground - Cut and remove cuttings including the copse area. Strim boundary and around graves etc Option for weekly cuts at Stanlake Meadow & KGVR in September and October of the pitch area (used when weather is mild and grass is growing quickly). Edges along paths, fences, and flower beds should be trimmed and left tidy after each mowing. Care to be taken around the grass areas left long for environmental reasons. 2. Hedges and strimming Hedges should be trimmed in compliance with local wildlife protection guidelines. Hedges and surrounding areas should be left tidy. 2.1 One complete cut each of the large boundary hedges in KGVR and Stanlake Meadow. 2.2 Facing up of the Waltham road hedge, KGVR path hedge and Hurst Road allotments in ~ June 2.3 2 cuts of the allotment hedges and the Waltham road layered hedge. 2.4 Wargrave Road footpath - strim (June and October) 2.5 Wargrave Road footpath hedge - face and top annually plus 2x face up 2.6 London Road Footpath - strim (June, July & October) 2.7 London Road allotment conifer hedge - face and top annually plus 1x face up 2.8 KGVR playground hedges - hand cut (June, July & October) 2.9 Hurst Road Allotments - Strim hedge-line carpark and inside road boundary (June, July & October) 2.10 Burial Ground Beech Hedge - trim both sides and top (October) 3. Pitch renovation Annual fertilise, vertidrain, overseed and weed treatment of 7 pitches. [KGVR - tennis court pitch, scout hut pitch and 2 junior pitches. Stanlake meadow - clubhouse pitch, Stanlake Lane pitch & cricket outfield] [Note: at present only 3 pitches have vertidrain treatment and 3 are overseeded] 4. Pitch Markings Initial marking of 7 pitches plus 3 mini pitches and fortnightly remarking through the football season Summer Running Track (200m 4 lane oval) at KGVR 5. Shrub and Flower Bed Maintenance [Jubilee Corner, Polehampton corner, millennium Garden and burial ground garden] Beds must be weeded monthly to keep them clear of invasive species. Pruning of shrubs should be done to maintain shape and health, and any damaged or dead plants should be removed. 6. Village weed spraying Herbicide spray 3 x a year: Hurst Road allotments communal area KGVR Playground paths Loddon Hall carpark along the fence line Bell Corner Jubilee Corner Burial ground paths 7. Wildflower Meadows Areas in KGVR & Stanlake Meadow - hay cut (September / October time) and collection 2 weeks later 8. Health and Safety The contractor must adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations, including those for equipment operation and waste disposal. Maintain risk assessments, insurances and safe working procedures for all tasks. Ensure all workers are appropriately trained and equipped with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). 9. Environmental Considerations Minimize the use of pesticides and fertilizers and adopt eco-friendly practices wherever possible. 10. Reporting and Communication Ongoing reporting on work completed, issues encountered, and any recommendations for improvement. Immediate communication of any urgent matters that require the Council's attention. 11. Payment and Performance Review Payments will be made monthly upon submission of an invoice. The Council will conduct periodic reviews of performance standards and reserves the right to address any deficiencies with the contractor. This specification provides a basic outline, which may need adjustments based on local requirements, seasonal variations, and specific expectations of the parish council. Willingness to quote for additional ad hoc work as required. Willingness to work with the Twyford and Ruscombe Cricket Club to maintain the cricket pitch under a separate arrangement if required. ## Contract award
