Description

The successful tenderer will be required to provide catering and hospitality services at Cleeve School and Sixth Form Centre. Cleeve School offers consistently outstanding teaching and an innovative and highly personalised curriculum, where literacy and numeracy skills are secured as firm bedrocks. The School provides a safe and stimulating environment, where mutual respect threads through the celebrated ethos of care, support and guidance. In preparing students for the world beyond school, we firmly believe in high standards of dress and attitude, so that good manners, tolerance and understanding underpin everything we do. Tradition is important ~ and we hold on to our traditions and high expectations, whilst also thoroughly embracing innovation and a 21st century approach to learning. There are currently 1494 pupils however this number will increase each year of the contract, due to housing developments in the local area. It is anticipated that in September 2016 the school shall have an additional 23 pupil and staff toilets and in January 2018 the school shall benefit from a new purpose built Sixth Form Centre building. The catering contract being offered will commence on 1.8.2017 for an initial period of three years, concluding on 31.7.2020, and will be offered on a guaranteed performance basis, with a service on each of the 190 full academic days and by agreement for the 5 inset days. Annual spend is circa 242 000 GBP. The successful contractor is expected to have a good local operational presence, as specialist caterers in the secondary school sector. Following contract award, the School can share the results from previous pupil satisfaction surveys. The contract covers the scope for the provision of catering services within the School, which currently includes breakfast, morning break, lunch, all hospitality and free issue requirements. Free school meals and hospitality will be charged at cost price, based on consumption. Sixth Form and staff have access to a separate ‘lunchbox’ serving, for example, hot drinks. The School expects the successful contractor to enable the continued development of catering through the provision of an innovative, healthy food service, prepared on-site. Offers of capital investment to improve catering facilities are invited, with re design and replacement of the dishwasher and new dining room furniture being possible areas for upgrades. The School intends to focus heavily on healthy, fresh, seasonal, locally sourced produce and sees the catering service as an exciting opportunity to complement the overall student and community experience. Through the regular introduction of new ingredients, themed and promotional events. The successful contractor will be required to play their part in acting as a catalyst for improvement of the pupil experience. The Senior Leadership Team and Governors have identified improved ‘value for money’ as a priority to parents and this is perceived as key to encourage an increased uptake of the overall catering service provided. The successful contractor will work closely with the School to manage the provision of catering and the overall ‘meal experience’, with pupil education on making healthy dietary choices being an important part of their educational experience. The School canteen EAT is located on the main Quadrangle. Not only is this a place to purchase food during break and lunchtime, but also an extra study area for Sixth Form students from Periods 1 to 6. 6th Form students are only permitted to leave the school site at lunchtime (via student reception sign out), for an appointment / medical reason or with parental consent. Each 6th Form tutor group takes a turn to clean the Sixth Form social spaces at pm registration to ensure the centre is suitable for study P6. The aim for this for students to keep the spaces clean at lunchtime as it is they who subsequently clean it. The vision of Senior Leadership and Governors is that all children choose to eat and enjoy a healthy school dinner with 100 % uptake of free school meals. Good quality and varied menu options plus value for money are perceived as key to encourage an increased uptake of the overall catering service provided. The successful contractor will be expected to work closely with the Food Technology department, to ensure there are appropriate catering themes, meal deals and promotions, in support of the school curriculum.
