Description
Funding has been secured from National Highways from the Designated Fund associated with the improvements being undertaken as part of the A63 Castle Street scheme and the Authority’s capital provision, in order that three city centre streets can be enhanced to the public realm standard. Improvements to Princes Dock Street and Humber Dock Street will be consistent and complementary to previous and ongoing public realm regeneration, including the Hull City Council's Public Realm Strategy developed and implemented as part of preparations for City of Culture 2017. The proposed works aim to create attractive, engaging, people-centric spaces which are flexible and durable. The works encompass public realm enhancements for Princes Dock Street and Humber Dock Street, including comprehensive surveys and site investigations. The works include the creation of high-quality public spaces through improved pedestrian footways and dockside areas, as well as new permanent footway build-outs on Princes Dock Street to enhance pedestrian flow and safety. The scheme also includes upgraded pedestrian and cycling accessibility, soft landscaping to enrich the urban environment, and the installation of public art and heritage interpretation features reflecting the site's cultural significance. Further improvements involve lighting upgrades and new street furniture to enhance functionality and visual appeal. For Humber Dock Street specifically, the works include providing new power supplies and installing new mooring bollards along the marina.
