Description

Dublin City University request the supply of a Direct Energy Deposition (DED) Metal-wire Additive Manufacturing Machine which will be used for academic research. The purpose of the instrument is to make sample parts using this equipment in order to develop this printing technology and related product design. DED Metal AM technology is one of the technologies which has the highest growth rate in the area of 3D printing. It allows for producing large parts more rapidly than alternative techniques such as metal binder jetting or laser powder bed fusion. This equipment will be used for the research and development of process parameter optimisation for different materials and part designs; development of sensor technologies which will enable quality assessment and control; the production of parts with different materials (multi-material printing); evaluation and optimisation of the part properties achievable from using this new technology.
