Supply and installation of an in-cab technology system for Refuse Collection Vehicles

A direct award process has been carried out under the Crown Commercial Services Vertical Application Solutions Lot 3: Housing, Environmental and Planning Solutions. Hardware and software installation can be very expensive, especially for large fleets. The ongoing cost of maintenance, updates, and training further add to the financial burden. Integrating new software with existing back-office systems, training all crew members, and replacing hardware can take up to two years to fully implement. So, a direct Award to the incumbent supplier was the best option for the continuity of the service. Lot 1: In-cab technology refers to the use of IT hardware and software within the Refuse Collection Vehicles (RCVs), which supports the communication of information between the vehicle and remote locations (e.g.depots, Customer Service Centre). The system provides opportunities to enable improved flows of information, better recording, and increased data capture. It helps to improve the flow of information and communication between the collection crews and back office.
