Description

South East Technological University (SETU), request the supply of a Measurement Device Independent (MDI) Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) Platform for use in the development of a national Quantum Communications Infrastructure, IrelandQCI. The vision of IrelandQCI is to build a national quantum communication network that will support an innovative quantum technology ecosystem that will enable and drive the transition from research-based experimental quantum systems and devices to commercialization-ready quantum communication products, solutions and services and lay the groundwork for international networks. This requirement is for a scalable quantum key distribution platform with an untrusted central core node and several edge nodes in which multiple users can be simultaneously connected to securely share encryption keys. The new network will be made available for research purposes, as well as allowing Government, agencies, and companies to start building competence and capability in this key area and ultimately, to develop the skills to secure critical infrastructure, data assets, and encryption systems.
