Description

The Dublin District Coroner is an independent official responsible for the medico-legal investigation of all sudden, unexpected, unnatural, unexplained, violent and other reportable deaths in Dublin. The Coroner is also responsible for the management of the Dublin City Mortuary. Dublin City Council proposes to award a contract for a period of 2 years, which may be extended for further periods of 1 year duration at its discretion, subject to a maximum of 3 such yearly extensions, for the provision of funeral undertaking services for the Dublin District Coroner. The Coroner is also responsible for the management of the Dublin City Mortuary. Dublin City Council proposes to award a contract for a period of 2 years, which may be extended for further periods of 1 year duration at its discretion, subject to a maximum of 3 such yearly extensions, for the provision of funeral undertaking services for the Dublin District Coroner. The contract agreement covers the following funeral undertaking work which may be required from time to time: — removal of a body of an adult or infant to the Dublin City Mortuary and the mortuaries at Blanchardstown, Tallaght and Loughlinstown Hospitals or any other hospital mortuary in the Dublin area that may be designated as required from time to time, — removal as may be required from a residence, hospital or other place, — storage of bodies, when necessary, in a suitable secure refrigerated body storage facility on the Contractors own premises or other appropriate location to be agreed with the Dublin District Coroner, — burial of the body of an adult or infant (including the provision of a hearse, shroud and coffin and payment of cemetery fees for the Millennium plot in Glasnevin Cemetery, or any other designated plot as may be required), — cremation of the body of an adult or infant (only at the sole discretion of the Dublin District Coroner, or her designated officers) (including the provision of a hearse, shroud and coffin and payment of the relevant crematorium fees for Glasnevin Crematorium, or any other designated crematorium as may be required) — internment or cremation of body parts / organs (including provision of a suitable casket / container, delivery to the relevant cemetery / crematorium and payment of the relevant cemetery / crematorium fees).
