Lot 2 – Provision of plain language summaries (PLS) of EFSA scientific outputs that are accessible for informed non-technical audiences. This contract award notice is relative to the third framework contract (FWC) in cascade for lot 2. Lot 2: Provision of Plain Language Summaries (PLS) of EFSA Scientific Outputs that are Accessible for Informed Non-technical Audiences EFSA publishes ca. 450 scientific assessments annually in the EFSA Journal. In recent years, EFSA has published PLS of a number of its key assessments and is now looking to expand the programme to cover a wider range of its scientific outputs. Due to its central role in protecting public health remit EFSA is obliged to communicate its finding in a timely manner: this means that the time available to create PLS is limited. Moreover, EFSA’s scientific outputs are highly technical and the wording can be nuanced to reflect the complexity of the risk assessment in hand. Recognising these factors, EFSA is seeking the support of a professional communications agency that will work with EFSA’s Department of Communication and Partnership (ENGAGE) and its scientific staff to establish a sustainable PLS programme.
