Supply Contract Regarding the Purchase and Maintenance of Radiation Monitor for Contamination Measurements of Tools

Description

The objective of this contract is the purchase of a radiation monitor foreseen to quantify the radioactivity emitted by the equipment and tools brought back to Luxembourg from various nuclear fuel cycle facilities throughout the EU. Additionally the monitor will be used to control potential contamination of laboratory consumables (e.g., gloves, protective equipment or tools) in order to provide reliable data to support decisions on the categorisation of waste. The ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accredited Radiation Protection laboratories of the DG ENER D.3 HPS provide a service to Commission staff working in the EUFO building, in particular Euratom safeguards inspectors, by performing contamination measurements in order to confirm the absence of radioactive contamination on equipment and seals returned from nuclear facilities on daily basis. The equipment allowing quantification of low activity levels (below 100 Bq) is essential for this purpose.
