The Strategic Infrastructure for Improved Animal Tracking in European Seas (STRAITS) project lead by Loughs Agency (LA) is a unique EU-funded research project aiming to develop cross-border capacity for the monitoring and management of marine protected areas and species across European seas. This involves deployment of a large offshore acoustic array in the North Channel between Malin, Ireland and Islay, Scotland (UK). This will provide vital information on survival and migratory routes of a variety of species at sea where information is sparse.
