Study on safe, sustainable operation of research reactor facilities in the EU. Lot 1: The objectives of this study are to: — review the current national, international and European level safety requirements and operating practices applicable to research reactor facilities and to assess the compliance of the EU’s research reactors with these requirements and practices; formulate relevant recommendations on how to enhance the safe and sustainable operation of the reactors; — review the conduct by the licensees of the systematic re-assessment of the safety of the research reactors via the PSRs, as well as the review of the PSR process by the competent regulatory authorities, and the methodology and procedures applied for the identification of safety upgrades; to propose improvements and recommendations to improve the effectiveness of the process; — review the progress in the development and implementation of OAMPs for research reactors in line with the TPR’s findings; produce recommendations on how to improve the ageing management of the research reactors.
