Developing a Decision Support System for Tree Species Selection in Ireland’s Forests in a Changing Climate

Description

The core objective of the proposed work is to provide forest managers and policy makers with a Decision Support Tool to assess species suitability and yield under current and predicted future climate change scenarios and to classify a site according to its minimum requirements to support establishment and growth of trees. The updated Decision Support Tool should build on the work carried out under the CLIMADAPT project and should use the latest available information on species suitability taking into consideration climatic and edaphic factors and include a spatial analysis module for regional assessment of key environmental factors influencing species suitability and productivity.
