Description
Hailsham Town Council is responsible for two cemeteries in the Hailsham/Hellingly area in East Sussex. The cemetery in Hailsham will mostly be a hand dig, but a machine dig is possible in some areas, if ground conditions are suitable. The cemetery in Hellingly is set up more for a machine dig, but some graves will have to be hand dug, due to their location. Both sites do have issues with wet areas during the winter months and any graves with in these areas will require a hand dig. All digging and grave preparation equipment will need to be supplied by the contractor. The contractor will be responsible for marking out the plot, digging/ back filling and preparation of the grave. The Council supplied shuttering will need to used in the winter months or if required at any other time in both cemeteries. The contractor will need to present for the funeral, or make arrangements with the Cemetery Manager if they are unable to be present. The Cemetery Manager or another member of staff will be present on the day of a funeral to assist the contractor if needed.
