Description
MCA have a requirement to move its applications to supported and approved technologies. This is due to the many current business applications in use at the MCA that are based on old and unsupported versions of MS Access 2003, Excel 2003 and old versions of SQL Server and Oracle. These have been deployed independently by various directorates over many years to meet a diverse range of business needs. This uncoordinated approach is contrary to established best practice as it can lead to data quality problems , inefficiencies due to duplication and system incompatibility and also a failure of the MCA to: •Comply with HMG Greening Government ICT Strategy 2012 by removing duplication, by consolidating, and rationalising servers and data centres where possible across the ICT estate (ICT Strategy Action 16). •Comply with HMG Security Policy Framework 2014 by ensuring systems are kept current and actively managed. •Adhere to the DfT Open Data Strategy by ensuring the information is managed (Principle 2); information is fit for purpose (Principle 3); information is standardised and linkable (Principle 4) and information is re-used (Principle 5). This role will identify, remodel and redevelop specified datasets so that they comply with the above strategies.
