Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL) wishes to engage one provider for property services. CMAL owns the ferries, ports and harbours and infrastructures necessary for vital ferry services serving the West coast of Scotland and the Clyde estuary. CMAL employs a chartered general practice surveyor and a chartered building surveyor who are both based in port Glasgow. The Building and property team undertakes the majority of the property management activities and manage property repairs and refurbishments, however they require support and back up for specialised property services such as building surveying, architectural services, asset valuation and rating. This appointment will report to and assist the CMAL Buildings and Property Team. CMAL intends to appoint a single supplier but reserves the right to appoint a further firm or firms of property advisers for specialist matters. CMAL owns the ferries, ports and harbours and infrastructures necessary for vital ferry services serving the West coast of Scotland and the Clyde estuary. Our ferries and harbours are used primarily by the current ferry operator, CalMac Ferries Ltd, under a Public Service Contract. We are a small team of 30 staff and are based in Port Glasgow in Inverclyde. A list of our building locations is included in the tender documents. CMAL employs a chartered general practice surveyor and a chartered building surveyor who are both based in Port Glasgow. The building and property team undertakes the majority of the property management activities and manage property repairs and refurbishments, however they require support and back up for specialised property services such as building surveying, architectural services, asset valuation and rating. This appointment will report to and assist the CMAL Buildings and Property Team. CMAL is owned by the Scottish Government with Scottish Ministers being the sole shareholder. CMAL intends to appoint a single supplier but reserves the right to appoint a further firm or firms of property advisers for specialist matters, where a substantial matter is contemplated or in any matter where CMAL believes that a conflict of interest may otherwise arise. The appointment will commence on 1.9.2019. The firm appointed will represent and advise CMAL for an initial period of 3 years, which may be extended for up to 5 years on a 3-year plus 2-year, subject to mutual agreement of the parties involved and legislative or regulatory requirements. CMAL reserves the right to formally terminate any appointment on agreed notice terms.
