Description
The UKAEA require a LSC system. Primarily this will be used to measure samples containing tritium, although carbon-14 is also of inter-est. A wide energy range is required as it is likely that additional isotopes will be present in trace quantities. The LSC will be used as a quantitative scientific instrument with good background suppression and high sensitivity being key requirements. The UKAEA is not look-ing for a custom-designed system, but a high quality off the shelf instrument. It is expected that results from this system will be published in peer reviewed journals and a system that allows the highest quality publications is desired. This system will be located in the new Hydrogen-3 Advanced Technology facility (H3AT), where it will primarily support experiments using tritium.
