Summary of the work The specialist will need to be a highly experienced (Practitioner level) Senior Dev Ops Engineer. Managing day to day support, technical leadership and guidance, creating a DevOps culture and implementing automation best practices. Upholding DWP values and working within Government Digital Standards. Specialist role Developer Expected Contract Length 9 months with an optional extension period of up to 2.25 months. Latest start date Monday 4 July 2022 Maximum Day Rate Up to £700 per day (Ex VAT). Standard 8 hour working day, includes expenses to base location agreed with DWP . This role is Inside IR35. Who Speclialist Work With The specialist will work with the existing DWP BPS Technical Service environment team. What Specialists Work On Senior Lead DevOps Engineering team providing support, technical leadership and guidance, creating a DevOps culture and implementing automation best practices. This will include coaching, mentoring and supporting your team, taking responsibility for their decision-making and their professional development. • Responsible for large blocks of work, employees in varied disciplines and with a wide span of leadership, breaking down user stories into tasks. • Design and manage the tactics for building reusable libraries, templates and services and own the development of medium-long term strategies for product lines within your Functional and Professional Communities. Skills & Experience • 3+ Year in a hands-on platform engineer/devops/cloud support role. • Evidence of significant practical experience and detailed technical knowledge of Redhat based Linux distributions. • Evidence of significant practical experience and detailed technical knowledge of Ansible Automation Platform and automating manual/human processes. • Evidence of significant practical experience and detailed technical knowledge of Terraform. • Evidence of significant experience and technical knowledge of managing infrastructure as code, catering for multiple environment differences (Cloud and On-Premise Hosting). • Evidence of practical experience and detailed technical knowledge of Gitlab. • Evidence of practical experience of Jenkins, including writing Jenkins related jobs with AWS automation tools. Nice to Haves • Demonstrate experience of working in regulated public sector environments (DWP, HMRC). • Able to demonstrate mentoring other colleagues with technical matters. • Demonstrate experience of identification of manual processes, suitable for automation. Work Location Peel Park Blackpool or St Peter's Square, Manchester. Working Arrangments Specialist will work hybrid, 2 days per week in DWP Hub, 3 days remotely. The specialist will be required to be online between the hours of 8:00AM - 17:00PM Security Clearance All suppliers must BPSS cleared and On-Shore.
