Expression of Interest - Provision of OT Assessments for Adults' and Childrens' Social Care

Published

Description

Wrexham County Borough Council (“the Authority”) is seeking to determine the market capacity for Independent Occupational Therapy options. This exercise is intended to assess the level of interest from potential providers, to provide Occupational Therapy Children’s & Adult assessments. Background Information OT intervention is primarily preventative, and the cost benefits associated with the provision of personalised home adaptations is well evidenced. OT’s are effective at preventing, reducing or delaying the need for care and support, based on a holistic picture of the individual or family, taking into consideration informal support networks and an asset-based approach which is complementary to maximising individual and community Resilience. Our overall outcome for Wrexham Borough Council is to promote the wellbeing of citizens in Wrexham, making the best use of available resources to enable them to live in the community independently and safely, free from abuse and neglect. Due to an increase in demand for assessments and limited internal capacity, there is a backlog in Occupational Therapy (OT) assessments at Wrexham County Borough Council. We are therefore seeking to outsource OT assessments to be completed over a period to clear the backlog. At this stage there is no commitment to a minimum or maximum number of cases that will be required by the provider. Our Current Challenge We have a number of assessments that require qualified Occupational Therapy home assessments in Wrexham County Borough. The successful organisation will need to undertake professional assessments and recommendations in line with our local processes and procedures. On-site visits will be essential. Types of cases needed to be picked up: • Palliative diagnosis with urgent environmental concerns or where there are Moving and Handling challenges. • Moving and Handling assessments • Access to toilet facilities • Health and safety concerns • Stairs assessment • Bathing for medical reasons • Transfer difficulties (bed, chair, toilet) • Access - unable to get in and out of the property • Housing assessments Interest Please ensure that any expressions of interest include: • Cost breakdowns • Estimated number of cases you would be able to take. • Qualification confirmation for staff undertaking specialist assessments • Timescales and possible commencement date. • Experience in providing community based Occupational Therapy Assessments For further information: Steve.latham-white@wrexham.gov.uk Interim Lead Commissioner, Wrexham County Borough Council, Social Care.
