Summary of the work Build linux infrastructure in AWS and in Physical Datacentre using Puppet Support Linux, Solaris and AIX hybrid systems Provide Expert knowledge and be an escalation point of contact for Solaris and AIX systems Work with IBM and Oracle Vendors Specialist role Web operations engineer Expected Contract Length 6 month (may be extended by a further 18 months ) Latest start date Tuesday 22 August 2017 Maximum Day Rate up to £750 (dependent on experience) Who Speclialist Work With Architects, Devops, Datacenter engineers What Specialists Work On • Build linux infrastructure in AWS and in Physical Datacentre. • Support Linux, Solaris and AIX hybrid systems • Provide Expert knowledge and be an escalation point of contact for Solaris and AIX systems Skills & Experience • Linux advance to expert knowledge • Puppet advanced knowledge(you will be asked to write puppet code on the interview) • Advanced Shell scripting(you will be asked to write shell scripts on the interview) • One of the high level scripting languages: ruby, perl, python(you will be asked to code on the interview) • Solaris and/or AIX advanced knowledge and willingness to learn another • IBM and/or SPARC architecture advanced knowledge and willingness to learn another • 2 years experience of Storage technologies and SAN • Good understanding of Backup Software(one of Tivoli, Networker, NetBackup) • Good understanding of Network protocols, firewalls, network security, loadbalancing Nice to Haves • Any exposure to Oracle DB • Any exposure to AWS • Shoud this be ‘exposure toDocker’ Work Location 165 Fleet Street EC4A 2DY Working Arrangments Full-Time, one day working from home. Security Clearance Can be sponsored, but preference will be given to already security cleared people. Is there resource already in place for this requirement or is this a brand new position? Can you confirm that no suppliers have been engaged before release to DOS? This is brand new position, and no suppliers have been engaged for this prior to releasing to DOS. 2. Please confirm whether the role is ‘inside’ or ‘outside’ IR35? We expect this engagement to be outside IR35, however status is assessed on a case-by-case basis. 3. Can you confirm that this role is a contested opportunity or is there somebody already in place? This contested opportunity. 4. What is the lead time for feedback once the application is submitted? Feedback will be available within one week from the closing date. 5. Can you confirm start date as the latest date mentioned is 22nd Aug 2017? The latest start date is 22 September. This date will only change should the security clearance process take longer than expected. 6. What are the other expenses which will be paid? No expenses will be paid. 7. What technologies will the consultant work on or should have experience with, please give detail? We believe this to be clear within the requirements shown on DOS. 8. Is there any travel involved in this role and will the travel expenses be paid? Any travel will be restricted to and within Central London . No expenses will be paid. 9. Would you consider work permit holders (e.g. Tier 2 General Visa) and EU passport holders for this role? HM Passport Office will not provide Visa sponsorship. The security clearance will require the individual to have been living continuously in the UK for five years. 10. Please can you respond to yesterday's question re if you have a current resource in place already and if any agencies have been engaged before coming out to DOS? This is brand new position, and no suppliers have been engaged for this prior to releasing to DOS. 11. Is it correct that the closing date for this application will be on the bank holiday?
