Road Weather Forecasting and Ice Prediction Services
Published
Description
The Council undertakes a range of maintenance on its road network to ensure that it can function effectively in the winter period. A Council wide road weather forecasting and ice prediction service is required to provide an adequate level of information to enable the authority to determine whether roads require treatment to prevent the formation of ice, or settling of snow, such as might impede or endanger traffic on these roads.\r The following services are required between October 2023 and September 2024.\r a) A climate study review to be carried out in October 2023 - this will be used to inform the long term approach to supply of weather forecasting and ice prediction services. This review is to be undertaken and the final report submitted to the Council's Contract Manager no later than 31 October 2023.\r b) An extension of the weather forecasting services for the period 01 April 2024 to 30 September 2024 to enable receipt of weather data in April and May 2023 and a service review to be carried out based on the climate study and a new longer-term arrangement to be procured.
