Description
The proposed project will examine the public perception of climate change and energy preferences across 4 key northern European countries (the UK, Germany, France, and Norway). While attitudes to climate change have been well documented in individual European countries, no detailed, theoretically justified cross-European research on climate change and energy perceptions has ever been conducted. Under consideration of the differences between the 4 countries with regards to their socio-political profile, the current research project will obtain comparative nationally representative survey data from Norway, Germany, France and the UK on public perceptions of climate change and energy. Our research team consists of experienced researchers from the UK (Cardiff School of Psychology — who are also project co-ordinators), Germany (University of Stuttgart), Norway (University of Bergen) and France (Symlog). Additionally an international stakeholder advisory panel has been involved in the project to increase the relevance of outputs for stakeholders and policy makers. The aim of the project is to conduct directly comparable nationally representative surveys of public opinions around climate change and energy in the 4 collaborating countries.
