Kettering General Hospital has a requirement for a single analytical platform that is capable of performing a wide range of assays for the investigation of autoimmune disease, allergy and inflammatory bowel disease. The Phadia 250 system is a single analytical platform that is capable of performing a wide range of assays for the investigation of autoimmune disease, allergy and inflammatory bowel disease. The Trust has reviewed the market and only this particular instrument provides single analytical platform that meets the future requirements of the trust. Currently a total of 68 different assays are performed using the Phadia 250 system (24 EliA autoimmunity and IBD assays and 44 ImmunoCAP allergy assays). As a laboratory accredited for ISO 15189 by the UK Accreditation Service (UKAS), we must verify the performance of all assays that we use and any changes must be communicated to UKAS and the necessary verification carried out before they are adopted for routine use. The system is unique in terms of the range of assays it can be used for and is the market leader for specific IgE testing (allergy) and the most economically advantageous solution for the trust. The Trust intends to award business for the supply of equipment, reagents, consumables and maintenance to Thermo Fisher (Phadia).
