External Works and Refurbishment of Building 29 at Chatterley Whitfield

Description
The former Chatterley Whitfield colliery site is situated on the edge of the Stoke-on-Trent conurbation in North Staffordshire. It was scheduled by English Heritage as an ancient monument in 1993. Chatterley Whitfield is important as the most substantially complete example of a large coal mining complex, with little alteration since it was closed in 1977. The site is owned entirely by Stoke on Trent City Council. The Chatterley Whitfield Programme has been growing from strength to strength since the completion of the successful ERDF & EP funded Phase 1A project in April 2006. The main objectives were to, increase access and provide the opportunity for business space to the site. The new roundabout, road and some refurbished buildings have been completed and occupation by local business has taken place. In addition, due to this success, other funding agencies have committed further funds. It is an extremely important, and opportunistic time, to capitalise on this further investment and maintain momentum by expanding the original Phase 1A programme to further develop the physical aspects of the site. The external works and part internal refurbishment of Building 29 will provide approx 540sqm of additional grow on space for local businesses. We require a Contractor to undertake these works that follow on from recently completed insurance funded works to replace a fire damaged roof.
