Description

The Council requires the provision of Appropriate Adult services for juveniles and vulnerable adults to support detainees being interviewed by the police. The Appropriate Adult (AA) Service is required when service users have to be interviewed by the police. The role of the AA Service is to support, advise and assist detainees in police stations who are either juveniles (10 to 17 years) or vulnerable adults. This provision is a statutory duty of the council under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998. AA’s are requested to attend the police station as an important safeguard.
