4014/JN/24 - High Resolution and High Positional Accuracy 3D Microscope
Published
Value
Description
There is currently the need for a high resolution, high positional accuracy 3D microscope to aid component quality inspection (form & textural) at the AMRC. The research will involve manufacturing defect detection, with non-contact scans for geometry profile, metallic burring, CFRP delamination and uncut fibres. Automated scanning, easy machine configuration changes (for example lens changes) and variable light setting will aid in rapid inspection for multiple non-connected regions per workpiece. The components/features of interest will range in geometries. Most inspection will be within a working area of 200 x 200 mm in x and y, however scans with working areas up to 300 x 300 mm would be desired. Cutting tool scanning is another research area of interest, using the equipment to be purchased to scan cutting edges for tool wear analysis, requiring the ability to grip and rotate cutting tools. The University of Sheffield is not a contracting authority for the purposes of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 (Directive 2014/24/EU) as amended by the Public Procurement (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020. The University is, on a voluntary basis, operating under the Public Contracts Regulations (as defined above) for this procurement case and is therefore advertising this opportunity in Finder a Tender with an obligation to comply with these regulations. By doing so, it does not become a contracting authority and there is no implied obligation to comply with procurement legislation for other procurement cases.
