Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) have an exciting vision to transform our Canterbury Campus, opening contemporary spaces for learning, teaching and research, while celebrating the city's rich heritage. Carefully designed to complement the history of our campus location on a UNESCO World Heritage Site - built on the grounds of the ancient St Augustine's Abbey and within sight of Canterbury Cathedral and St Martin's Church - our new buildings and conversion plans connect the city's historic sites. Over the next 10 to 15 years there will be an ?150m Estate Master Plan investment which will provide a campus for the 21st century for students, staff and the wider community to enjoy. Further details on the University's Estate Master Plan can be found on our website. CCCU is undertaking phase two of our Estate Master Plan and investment in its Estate. Building 2 is a new ?64m Building is under construction that will teach Science, Technology, Health, Engineering, and Medicine. The building is planned to open in September 2020 and will provide a central location where exciting innovative approaches to teaching and learning will be delivered within the new multi-million pound facility. In January 2019 the first new building of the Estates Master Plan opened. The Daphne Oram building for the creative arts opened and is now being used by students on the University's School of Media, Art & Design. The second new building being developed as part of the master plan (currently referred to as Building 2) is a new ?65m Science, Technology, Health, Engineering and Medicine building, also due to open in September 2020 to provide a central location for innovative approaches to the delivery of teaching and learning. Building 2 will be composed of; o General Teaching Spaces (Seminar and 2 Lecture Theatres) o IT Labs o Science Labs o Engineering workshops o Specialist spaces o Anatomy Laboratory o Health Simulation o Psychology Observation Suite o Police custody observation Suite o Open and public spaces The main construction phase of Building 2 will complete in early June with completion planned for 3rd June 2020, with teaching starting on 1st Sept 2020. The construction contract is currently fully on schedule and it is anticipated that the contractor will hand the building over on time. CCCU will be looking to appoint a single supplier to supply and install furniture for this building. The furniture will need to be contemporary in design and suitable enough to compliment this brand new building. It will also need to be resilient enough to meet the functional requirements of each item of furniture. The furniture should also be take into account sustainability and be able to meet the needs of our staff and students for the opening in 2020 and beyond.
