Forestry & Land Scotland (FLS) has a requirement to let a Framework Agreement to external service providers for the provision of Responsive Chainsaw Operations, Arboriculture Work & Dangerous Tree Surveys. This framework shall cover chainsaw, arboriculture services and tree surveying including, tree felling, road line felling, clearing wind blow, tree surgery and many other related services. It will also include the facility for clearing up the site following chainsaw operations such as small machinery extraction, via tractor mounted winch, mini forwarder. This Framework is split into two different requirements: Lots 1-18 Responsive Chainsaw Operations and Lots 19-38 Arboriculture Work & Dangerous Tree Surveys. The Framework term is four (4) years with no option to extend. Lot 1: Lot 1 - North Highland (Responsive Chainsaw Operations) Lot 1 - North Highland (Responsive Chainsaw Operations) This lot shall include the following core services: Tree felling Road line felling Regen clearing Diseased tree clearance Road clearance Oversized tree felling Clearing wind blow Clearance of hazardous trees Minor harvesting support Conversion of felled trees into marketable timber Cross cutting into lengths Sned out and leave arisings on the ground Use of hand winch Tractor/agricultural mounted powered winch or line skidding operations Traffic management including stop/go boards, provision of a banksman, provision of traffic lights Tree removal prior to, during, and after peatland restoration works – trees to be felled, delimbed, and material removed from within 5 metres of a watercourse. Base – looking for indications of damage to buttresses and lower stem. Indications of decay and fungal fruiting bodies, girdling roots, loss of bark, cavities, or stress cracks. Stem – indications of fibre buckling, bottle necking, swellings, cavities, wounds, fungal fruiting bodies, necrotic bark, progressive lean, appropriate crown stem ratio, compression forks or ribs. Scaffold (first order) Limbs – hazard beams, hanging snapped limbs, decay, cavities, fungal fruiting bodies, compression forks, bulges, cankers, necrotic bark, spiral cracks, shear cracks and bombs or deadwood.
