Engineering and Site Safety Works at East Avoca Mines, Co. Wicklow

Description

The works consists of engineering and public health and safety works at the “Tigroney Spoils Area” which is a part of the Avoca former mining area. The works will include (i) earthworks consisting of regrading, capping and landscaping of an area approx. 1.6 hectares (4 acres); (ii) drainage works consisting of the construction of approx. 640m of new open drainage channels, associated road culverts and sediment traps; (iii) roadworks consisting of approx. 160m of access road reconstruction and surfacing works; (iv) stabilisation of the entrance portal of a disused mine adit to faciliate capture and piping of discharge from the adit across the site over a distance of approx. 70m; (v) civil works associated with the relocation of ESB lines off the main site into underground ducts; and (vi) foundation construction and other works to facilitate re-erection of ore bins located on the site by a steelworks contractor. CONTRACT AWARDED. A contract was awarded to Priority Construction Ltd., 162 Clontarf Road, Dublin D03 F6Y0 on the 24th June 2016 for 190 days.
