Description

The University of Birmingham is looking to appoint a main contractor to undertake a build of a New Glasshouse. Following on from the success of the Birmingham Institute of Forestry Research, the University successfully applied for a research grant from the Wolfson Foundation for a new research facility located on the existing Elms Glasshouses site on the University of Birmingham’s main Edgbaston campus. The new facility will provide laboratory and growing chambers for the College of LES and is to be housed on the site of an existing glasshouse facility adjacent to neighbouring workshops and stores used by the Grounds and Gardens team from the University. Facilities will include 6 No environmentally independently controlled growth chambers as well as laboratories and waste processing areas within the CAT 02 area and also ancillary potting and soil stores which service the labs housed outside the containment area. There will also be a large growth chamber used for public engagement. The University of Birmingham is looking to appoint a main contractor to undertake a build of a New Glasshouse.
