RBGE as an organisation has a requirement to physical map our changing gardens and built environments. Changes and Additions can include Buildings Paths Beds Plants Topographic features RBGE currently uses three different information systems to support the GIS mapping in the horticulture space. ArcGIS Fieldmaps (https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/apps/field-mobility/introducing-arcgis-field-maps/) Iris BG (https://www.irisbg.com/) Floria (https://botanicalsoftware.com/installing-handheld/) ArcGIS performs the function core GIS mapping software which in turn links to RBGE Living Collection Management software of Iris BG and Floria. All of this software runs on an Android Tablet RBGE current uses Samsung Galaxy Active Pro SM-T545NZKAU07. To improve the accuracy of GPS information in our databases we require a handheld (or backpack) sub-meter GPS mapping solution. The GPS device use mimicking via Bluetooth to Tablet for achieve it connection to the RBGE software solution. The solution should be able to work with the current RBGE solution as detail above. The proposed solution should be of an appropriate value and “ease of use” to be used by members of the horticulture department (i.e. non-mapping professionals) staff. The equipment which make up the solution should be robust and compact enough to stand the use of horticulture staff. An IP65/67 rating for the equipment components would also be of benefit but not essential. The footprint for the storage of the equipment should be compact enough to be stored in a shared office of 4 people without impacting upon the use of the office. The proposed sub-meter GPS mapping solution Should have more than one integrated chip and in excess of 439 GNSS channels Compatible with different Satellite solution GPS GLONASS Galileo BeiDou QZSS Great Britain VRS (Virtual Reference Stations) to provide real-time kinematic output. Roaming SIM card for use of VRS solution. Paid subscription for 3 years (480 hours per year) Equivalent to these requirement which produces same output for a solutions will be considered. The expected solution from market analysis is likely to include the following componets GPS Device Light Weight GPS Carry Pole Rugged Tablet Case with attachment to Pole Spare Battery 3 years support and maintenance of Hardware and Software components Ruggedized storage box for all parts of the solution Alternative solution which perform the same function will be considered.
