Geevor Cafe Refurbishment and Reconfiguration
Published
Description
Pendeen Community Heritage is seeking invitations to tender for a programme of improvement works to our onsite Count House Cafe. This is part of our funded project 'Geevor Cafe Reimagination, Improvement and new space creation'. Our funding was received as part of the Good Growth programme under 'RUR002 Strengthening Rural Community Infrastructure and Assets'. Our cafe kitchen was built to accommodate 20,000 people upon opening in 1997; we now welcome over 40,000 visitors a year. We plan to introduce a series of improvements on site to ease the pressure on our cafe kitchen and allow capacity for larger visitor numbers and external business opportunities. Lot 1: The primary focus of the work is to reconfigure the existing Cafe layout both within the kitchen and in the front of house/serving area. This will be achieved by removing old obsolete fixtures and fittings and reimagining the space. The following work would be included in this Tender: • Re-situating the kitchen access doors and creating a food pass system • Removing two store rooms within the kitchen space and re-situating the hot water cylinder which currently sits on top of one of the store rooms. This will create more preparation space in the kitchen • The space created by removing these store rooms would need to be made food safe and have appropriate fixtures and fittings installed • Relocation of existing vegetable preparation sink • Installation of replacement flooring and kitchen cladding where appropriate • Relocating the current dishwashing area and installing relevant fixtures and fittings • Installing additional extraction for new kitchen equipment • Removing of canteen style front of house servery including obsolete hot cupboard and refrigeration unit • Repair and replace any damage caused by removal of existing servery • Install a bespoke bar/service area • All associated plumbing works with these activities • Removal of waste generated. All work will be conducted in conjunction with Geevor Tin Mine and Count House Cafe to ensure limited disruption and a cohesive work environment for all involved. The work will need to begin by Monday 4th November 2024 and conclude by Monday 23rd December 2024. Interested Applicants should submit an expression of interest in carrying out the works. Selected applicants will then be invited to carry out a site visit and formulate a quote/plan which will be provided to the General Manager and Museum and Operations Manager. All formal applications will be evaluated, and applicants may be contacted for further information or clarification. Once a decision is made the successful applicant will be notified and enter into formal negotiations with the General Manager and Museum and Operations Manager with a view to contract signing.
