Description

An award has been made by Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council (the “Council”) to appoint the services of a contractor, to carry out site and habitat management works at a number of sites in Neath Port Talbot as part of the ‘Connecting Green Infrastructure’ regional project. The primary aim of the project, working as part of a new regional partnership, is to enable the co-design and co-delivery of Green Infrastructure (GI) in ways that meets local needs, supports communities and their health, builds ecosystem resilience, and enhances biodiversity. The project is setting out a new and collaborative approach to designing and delivering green infrastructure (GI) across Neath Port Talbot (NPT), Swansea and Carmarthenshire, for the benefit of local communities and their natural environment. Through volunteer development and engagement, and adaptation of internal work practices, the project will maintain and enhance existing GI, and make use of GI mapping to inform delivery and utilisation of new GI, delivering practical improvement projects across the region. BACKGROUND INFORMATION:- In August, 2021, the Council, acting on behalf of the South West Wales Green Infrastructure Partnership, received confirmation of funding for the Connecting GI Project by the Welsh Government’s Enabling Natural Resources and Well-being in Wales (ENRaW) Fund, supported by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and Welsh Government. The project will be managed by Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council, led by the Green Infrastructure Project Manager, with support being provided by project partners. LOCATION:- Project activity will take place throughout Neath Port Talbot. Headquarters is based at the Council’s offices at The Quays, Brunel Way, Baglan Energy Park, Briton Ferry, SA11 2GG, however it is expected that the majority of meetings / engagement will be undertaken on Teams/ Zoom and the majority of activities to be held on site. PROJECT TIMESCALE:- The Council are looking for a suitable consultant to carry out the requirements of Volunteer/Habitat co-ordinator within an anticipated start date of June 2022 and end date of 31st March, 2023.
