Description

MGS invites tenders for the National Consultation for Empire, Slavery & Scotland’s Museums (ESSM). This project, funded by the Scottish Government and led by an independent Steering Group, will explore how Scottish museums and galleries can better address the legacies of slavery, Empire and colonialism at every level. All submissions will be appreciated, but bids from organisations which have not previously worked with MGS would be especially welcome. There are two Lots to this tender. The budget of GBP 58,000 including VAT is the total overall budget for both Lots. The budget for each Lot will be proportional depending on whether a proposal covers both stakeholder engagements or one. Lot 1: National Consultation for Empire, Slavery and Scotland’s Museums Project - General Public Consultation MGS will coordinate a national consultation to establish public and expert perspectives on how museums can contribute to our understanding of the legacies of slavery and colonialism. The consultation is expected to work with 3 key audiences: 1. Museum professionals 2. General Public 3. Priority Communities = persons from communities who have been negatively impacted by the structural forms of discrimination that can be connected to the historic legacies of slavery and colonialism. MGS intends to manage and administer the engagement with museum professionals for this contract, working within the framework developed by the successful research contractor (in consultation with the Steering Group and project team). We invite proposals for work on the General Public strand of the consultation. Lot 2: National Consultation for Empire, Slavery and Scotland’s Museums Project - Priority Communities Consultation MGS will coordinate a national consultation to establish public and expert perspectives on how museums can contribute to our understanding of the legacies of slavery and colonialism. We invite proposals for work on the Priority Communities strand of the consultation.
