Description

Perth and Kinross Council is seeking to appoint suitably qualified and experienced Service Providers to deliver a range of accessible, high quality, home based family support services to secure a nurturing environment for children by providing the following outcomes: — family wellbeing is strengthened, — families increase resilience and ability to meet their own needs, — children’s developmental needs are met, — increased confidence and self-esteem in children and parents, — parents achieve specific skills, — families have improved engagement in community activities, — children’s likelihood of becoming looked after is reduced, — a focus on a whole family approach to problem solving. The service will focus on families with children aged 5-11 years old. It will help ensure children will be supported to remain at home where possible and engage with parents to improve their capacity to care for their children, provide practical parenting skills and help build their ability to engage with their community. The service will be flexible in its intensity and will encourage the building of family routines and improve parental confidence and responsibility. A service which responds to the needs of children and young people aged 8-16 years who have experience of parental substance misuse, poor parental mental health and who may be living in households where there is domestic violence. The Service Provider will have a comprehensive understanding of the impact of these issues on the lives of children and young people in order to achieve the desired outcomes for children and young people. The service will focus on families with an unborn baby or child(ren) under 5 years old where an early intervention or prevention approach is needed to address low / medium level issues that are impacting on the child(ren) and family. It will utilise a volunteering approach to engage and work alongside parents to improve their capacity to care for their children and support them to develop in line with age appropriate expectations. It will also assist parents to build their confidence and engage with other services to get any other support they need.
