Tree Planting Framework 2023

Published

Description

The purpose of this framework is to provide NRW All Wales Forestry Operations teams with the resource to manage the restocking programme of works predominantly within the Welsh Government Woodland Estate (WGWE). This framework could also be used for NRW funded projects if appropriate. Tree planting is required by NRW to; restock those areas that have been harvested; to plant trees on woodland creation sites and to replace losses from previous tree planting operations. The trees will be both conifers and broadleaves and supplied as either bare-root stock, or containerised. Lot 1: Tree Planting - Restocking & Beat Up Tree planting is required by NRW to; restock those areas that have been harvested; to plant trees on woodland creation sites and to replace losses from previous tree planting operations. The trees will be both conifers and broadleaves and supplied as either bare-root stock, or containerised. Lot 2: Mechanised Tree planting Mechanical Planting has to date consisted of a purpose built planting head attached to a traditional Tracked Excavator (TX). The prime benefit being the combination of ground preparation and planting over a longer planting window in a single operation. The planting head makes it possible to conduct the full scope of regeneration work from scarification to planting with a single machine. Providing regeneration of the highest quality and with the greatest possible consideration for environmental and ecological aspects.
